Tragic Murder-Suicide Claims the Life of 18-Year-Old Kayla Johnson in Akron, Ohio

A tragic scene unfolded in Akron, Ohio, early Sunday morning when two teenagers were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. on October 5, 2025, officers responded to a report near South Hawkins Avenue and Peckham Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Kayla Johnson, 18, and Janaya Miller, 17, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.
According to the Summit County Medical Examiner, Kayla Johnson’s death has been ruled a homicide, while Janaya Miller’s has been ruled a suicide. Authorities believe the incident may have been a murder-suicide, but the investigation remains ongoing.
The Akron Police Department has not released further details on what led to this devastating event. Friends, family, and the community are mourning the loss of Kayla, a young life taken far too soon.
