Tragic Shooting in Dallas: Cecilia Simpson Killed After Argument Over “Thank You” Escalates

41-year-old Cecilia Simpson was tragically shot and killed on October 7, 2025, in a Dallas, Texas parking lot outside a PetSmart.

According to reports, the deadly incident began after Cecilia held the door open for 22-year-old Keona Zachuya Hampton as they were leaving a Five Below store. When Keona allegedly failed to say “thank you,” an argument broke out between the two women.

After the confrontation, Cecilia and her daughter drove to the nearby PetSmart and told employees that Keona was following them. Keona reportedly entered the store shortly after and began arguing with a witness. She then left the store but returned moments later, where another argument took place.

PetSmart employees asked all three women to leave the store, but the situation escalated outside. A physical altercation broke out, which Cecilia and her daughter attempted to de-escalate by getting into their car. However, Keona allegedly threw a drink toward them, and moments later, gunfire erupted.

Cecilia Simpson was struck by the gunfire and rushed to Methodist Central Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Keona Zachuya Hampton was arrested and booked into the Dallas County Jail.
