A devastating murder-suicide in Coconut Creek, Florida has left a young child without parents and a community in shock.

On January 3, 2026, 38-year-old Veloudre Petitval was tragically shot and killed inside a residence located in the 4800 block of Acadian Trail. Coconut Creek Police and SWAT teams responded to reports of a domestic violence incident and surrounded the home, urging the suspect to exit.

According to investigators, Petitval was killed by her child’s father, 34-year-old Jean Dominique Foureau, who then died by suicide after turning the gun on himself. Authorities have classified the incident as a domestic violence-related murder-suicide. The couple leaves behind a two-year-old child.


Neighbors reported that the family had recently moved into the Coconut Creek neighborhood and were seen together during the holidays, making the tragedy even more unsettling for residents.


Police have stated the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no threat to the public. The investigation into the murder-suicide remains ongoing.
