18-Year-Old Kassidy Jackson Fatally Shot in Baton Rouge; Ex-Girlfriend Charged With First-Degree Murder

An 18-year-old woman has died following a domestic-related shooting in Baton Rouge, authorities confirmed. Kassidy Jackson was tragically shot and killed on January 8, 2026, in the 1700 block of Columbus Dunn Drive near Gus Young Avenue. Police responded to the scene around 2:00 p.m., where Jackson was found suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

According to investigators, 19-year-old Paulasia Banks, Jackson’s ex-girlfriend, is accused of shooting her following an altercation. Police say Banks showed up at the residence, where a fight reportedly broke out between the two before the shooting occurred.Banks later turned herself in to law enforcement and was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. She has been charged with first-degree murder.
Authorities believe the incident was domestic in nature, and the investigation remains ongoing.
