Lerhonda “Lulu” Carter Shot and Killed in Scott, Louisiana; Two Men Arrested

40-year-old Lerhonda “Lulu” Carter was tragically shot and killed on December 30, 2025, in Scott, Louisiana. Carter, a well-known Lafayette-area business owner and entrepreneur, was fatally wounded during a shooting in the 800 block of Delhomme Avenue.According to law enforcement, police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located Carter suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Following an extensive investigation, authorities identified James Michael Joseph and Jessie Howard Alfred Jr. as suspects in the homicide. James Michael Joseph was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Lerhonda Carter. Jessie Howard Alfred Jr. was also taken into custody and charged with accessory after the fact of second-degree murder.

As of this time, police have not publicly released a motive for the shooting or disclosed what events may have led up to the killing. The investigation into the death of Lerhonda “Lulu” Carter remains ongoing.

She owned and operated several popular nightlife establishments, including Bliss Lounge on Jefferson Street, French 75 Bar, and Lounge McKinley.
