30-year-old Shaquana Jordan was shot and killed in a domestic violence incident.
On February 5, 2025, 30-year-old Shaquana Jordan was tragically shot and killed by her husband, 30-year-old Hasheed Ali Mills, in Portsmouth, Virginia. The incident took place in 6700 block of Kenny Lane. Around 8:30 p.m., police received a heartbreaking call from Shaquana’s seven-year-old son, who reported that his father had shot his mother. When officers arrived, they found Shaquana suffering from gunshot wounds to her arm and side as she lay on the porch. Shaquana was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was five weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
Surveillance Footage and Arrest
Security footage captured a heated altercation between Shaquana and Hasheed before he ran to his car and sped away, leaving their two children alone without adult supervision. Investigators later determined that Shaquana had recently kicked Hasheed out of her apartment and feared he would return for his belongings.
Police were able to track Hasheed vehicle and quickly took him into custody. He is currently being held without bond and faces multiple charges, including:
Aggravated murder
Use of a firearm
Shooting in the commission of a felony
Possession of a firearm by a felon
Child abuse and neglect
History of Domestic Violence
Court records reveal a history of domestic violence between Shaquana and Hasheed. Prior to her murder, Hasheed had been charged multiple times with domestic assault, leading to protective orders against him. One violent incident involved an argument in which Shaquana threw a drink at him, prompting Hasheed to push her out of a moving car. In another instance, he was accused of striking her in the face and ripping out her hair, leaving a bald spot. Shaquana had previously reported to police that Hasheed had repeatedly threatened to kill her. Shaquana herself had also faced legal trouble in their volatile relationship. Last year, she was charged with malicious wounding after stabbing Hasheed with a screwdriver.
