According to law enforcement, Sherell was murdered the same morning she vanished, though her body would not be discovered until two days later. Relying on their own determination and resourcefulness, Sherell’s family and friends tracked her phone, retraced her steps, and located her purse—critical clues that ultimately led to the discovery of her remains. Sherell’s body was found along Route 107 in Saugus, Massachusetts, a tragic end to a search filled with fear and urgency.

On December 23, 2021, her boyfriend, 48-year-old Bruce Maiben, was arrested and charged in connection with her death. Investigators later revealed that Sherell had been stabbed more than 200 times, a horrifying act of brutality.Maiben was subsequently convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Sherell leaves behind one child, a family forever changed, and a community still grieving the immense loss.
