34-year-old Matyka Brown was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend Tony Jackson

On February 10, 2025, 34-year-old Matyka Brown’s life was tragically cut short at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, 32-year-old Tony Jackson. The fatal incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the 2900 block of Millicent Avenue in Dayton, Ohio.
Tony reportedly broke into Matyka’s home through a window, lying in wait before launching his attack. As gunfire erupted, her two daughters, ages 9 and 14, managed to escape the house. Tragically, Matyka was shot twice—one of the shots fired while one of her children was present. Before the attack, Tony had unplugged multiple surveillance cameras inside the home, seemingly in an attempt to conceal his actions.
A History of Violence

Tony Jackson had a documented history of violence against Matyka. In October 2024, he was arrested after allegedly strangling her. However, according to News Center 7, the case was dismissed after a grand jury declined to approve the charges.
In addition to the domestic violence allegations, Tony had prior convictions for aggravated robbery and kidnapping. News Center 7 uncovered court records detailing his involvement in a violent armed robbery at Ohio Loan Company on W. Third Street in August 2019. During the incident, Tony and two accomplices stormed the business, pistol-whipped an employee, and fired shots inside before stealing over two dozen firearms. DNA evidence later linked him to the crime.
Current Charges and Community Impact
Tony Jackson is currently being held in Montgomery County Jail on a $3 million bond.
This devastating tragedy serves as yet another painful reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the urgent need for stronger protections for victims. Our hearts go out to Matyka’s family, her children, and the entire Dayton community. May she rest in peace.
